Urgent Call on Prime Minister Abadi, the US and the UN to clear the Iranian regime’s agents from Camp Liberty

IMG_3899The International Committee In Search of Justice (ISJ) expresses its deep concern over the transfer of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and the Quds Force mercenaries to Camp Liberty and urges Prime Minister Al-Abadi not to allow the Iranian regime agents, who have been nested in various political and security organizations during 8 years of former prime minister Nouri Al-Maliki ‘s rule, to pave the way for another humanitarian disaster against Iranian refugees in Liberty.

In the morning of September 7, 2015, two dozens Iranian Quds Force agents under the pretext of families of residents were transferred to Liberty by the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad and Colonel Sadiq Mohammad Kazem and some of his colleagues in the Committee of Suppression of Liberty residents chaired by Faleh Fayyaz, Iraq’s National Security Adviser, by passing them through several checkpoints. The agents then began chanting slogans against the residents. These actions continued until the last hours of the day.

These actions are a reminder of two years of psychological torture of Liberty residents in 2010 and 2011 in Ashraf by the Iranian regime agents under the name of families in preparation for the subsequent killings in Liberty.

Dispatching a bunch of mercenaries to Liberty under the name of family members is taking place while hundreds of families of Liberty residents in Europe, North America and Iran’s neighboring countries have complained to ISJ about the Iraqi government’s refusal to let them go to Iraq and visit their loved ones.

Prior to this, in the years 2011 and 2012, the US and UN officials had repeatedly promised us that when the residents were transferred from Ashraf to Liberty, the Iraqi Government would prevent any visit to Liberty by the Iranian regime agents under any circumstances.  Unfortunately, the Iranian regime’s agents in the Iraqi Government repeatedly violate this promise by the demand of this regime.

In addition to the Iraqi Government, ISJ asks the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, UNAMI and the US Government to  proceed immediately, according to their clear commitments, to take away the responsibilities and Iraqi management of Camp Liberty from the Iraqi people affiliated with the Iranian regime like Faleh Fayyaz, Col. Sadiq, and Maj. Ahmad, and transfer it to individuals and organizations who are not linked and under the influence of the Iranian regime, and prevent the Iranian regime agents from approaching Liberty and launching another bloodbath. A disaster that neither Prime Minister Abadi nor the US Government nor the United Nations will be innocent in it.
