3600 lawmakers in 61 parliaments in 40 countries, including 29 majorities in France, Italy, U.S., UK, Norway, the Netherlands, Ireland, etc., support Maryam Rajavi’s Ten-point Plan for a democratic, secular republic & call for the designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organization

29 June 2023

The International Committee in Search of Justice (ISJ) has received copies of statements from over 3,600 lawmakers, serving in 61 legislative bodies in 40 countries across Europe, North America, Australia and the Arab world.

Among the statements is Resolution 100 of the US House of Representatives, sponsored by 239 lawmakers. Additionally, majorities from 28 other legislative assemblies have endorsed this statement. They include the French National Assembly, the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate in Italy, the House of Commons and Lords in the UK, as well as parliaments in Norway, Malta, Iceland, North Macedonia, Moldova, and the Dutch and the Republic of Ireland Senate.

The statement strongly condemns the killing of 750 protesters, the imprisonment of 30,000 and the ongoing wave of executions. “We stand in solidarity with the people of Iran in their desire for a secular and democratic republic where no individual, regardless of religious or birthright, has any privilege over others. Through their slogans the Iranian people have made it clear that they reject all forms of dictatorship, be it the deposed Shah or the current theocratic regime and thus reject any association with either,” it stated.

The statement underscores “over the past four decades, the democratic coalition of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has constantly and tirelessly pursued democratic change.”

It added: “In this respect, we believe the Ten-point Plan articulated by the NCRI President, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, deserves our support. It stands for free elections, freedom of assembly and expression, abolition of the death penalty, gender equality, the separation of religion and state, autonomy for Iran’s ethnicities and a non-nuclear Iran.”

The statement emphasizes: “The Iranian people’s courageous uprising can be attributed, on the one hand, to the explosive state of Iranian society, a product of suppression, poverty, discrimination and government corruption, and, on the other hand, four decades of nationwide organized resistance.

Tragically, in the summer of 1988 alone, over 30,000 political prisoners – the vast majority of whom were members of the MEK – were brutally massacred” It also condemns “the continuation of the regime’s interventions in the region as well as in Europe, including terrorist and cyber activities in Albania”.

The stance taken by 3,600 legislators reflects the global consensus over the illegitimacy of appeasement of and capitulation to, the religious dictatorship ruling Iran and points to the imperative of supporting the Iranian people and Resistance. Such a policy is critical in achieving democracy in Iran and securing regional and global peace and security.
